The ServiceMaster Restore Minor Atom A Peterborough Petes made it to the semifinals of the Liftlock Atom Hockey Tournament. While the Petes played a solid game, they were unable to score and lost 3-0 to the eventual D Division champions Whitby Wildcats. The Petes had the honour of playing in the tournament’s official opening game. Along with the game being broadcast on TVCogeco, the winning team was also awarded the Chris Fee Cup. The Petes had an early jump on the Markham Waxers with Lucas Tataryn opening the scoring in the first period when his shot from the point found the top corner. Cooper Lawson had the assist.

Peterborough pulled out to a 2-0 lead in the second when Joey Donoghue scored. Lyndon Jarbeau had the assist. Two minutes later Andrew Wasson  broke in on a breakaway and made it 3-0 Peterborough. Markham scored two late third period goals, but were unable to tie the game.
In game two, Peterborough defeated the Clarence Rockland Crush 10-4.

Yet the Petes’ Jayden Howson finally put Peterborough on the board about 10 seconds into the third period. Cade Dunford had the assist. Howson’s goal was just the beginning as Peterborough scored four more in the final frame to win 5-1. Also scoring were Stabler, Lawson, Tataryn and O’Brien.

Assists went to Jarbeau (2), Stabler (2) and Lawson.

In the semifinals, the Petes lost 3-0 to the Whitby Wildcats. Whitby would go on to beat the Orillia Terriers 4-1 to win the D Division Championship.
