Another Successful Weekend for Jack McVicar Professional Corporation Minor Atom AE Petes
The Jack McVicar Professional Corporation Minor Atom AE Petes had a successful weekend on the road.

After a long Thanksgiving layoff, the Petes began their weekend in Cobourg on Friday night (Oct 14), where they faced the Northumberland Nighthawks in a battle for first place in the standings.  Northumberland came out ready to play and it showed when they scored a goal off the opening faceoff.  The Petes quickly regrouped and Caeden Kent evened up the scoring 19 seconds later.  The remainder of the first period saw a lot of back and forth action, until Northumberland was able to break the tie late in the period and head into the second with a 2-1 lead over the Petes.

The second period continued to be a back and forth battle,  with the Petes getting goals from Tristan Lehman, Griff Coupland and Cole Scanlan, which offset a Nighthawks goal and gave the Petes a 4-3 lead heading to third.

An early third period goal by Riley Hagerman gave the Petes a 5-3 lead and it looked like they were in cruise control until late in the period when the Nighthawks resiliency showed and they began to mount a comeback.  The Nighthawks scored a late goal to get within one, but the Petes strong defense and goaltending were able to stand tough and give them the 5-4 victory.

Assists during the game went to Scanlan (2), Hagerman and Tobey Skopelianos.

After a well deserved day off on Saturday, the Petes headed into Pickering for a matchup with the Panthers on Sunday afternoon (Oct 16).

The Petes went into Pickering riding a seven game win streak and weren’t going to be denied a win on this day.  The Petes quickly asserted their dominance and had the Panthers pinned in their own end for the bulk of the game.  The Petes realized they were in control of the game and showed great team work and selflessness as they made some great passing plays on route to a 7-0 win.

Goal scorers for the Petes were Tristan Lehman (2), Caeden Kent, Tobey Skopelianos, Archer Stalteri, Riley Hagerman and Griff Coupland.   Assists went to Lehman (3), Skopelianos (2), Kent (2), Olivia Mercer, Sawyer Spencley and Jack Pacey.

The Petes improved their record in league play to 7-0 and will put their eight game win streak on the line when they travel to Oshawa on Wednesday night (Oct 19).
