Jack McVicar Professional Corporation Minor Atom AE Petes Continue Hot Streak with Another Win on the Road
The Jack McVicar Professional Corporation Minor Atom AE Petes were on the road Wednesday night (Oct. 19) to face a formidable opponent in the Oshawa Minor Generals.

The Generals came out flying and had the Petes reeling for much of the first period, before opening the scoring with under 3 minutes to play in the frame.  In what has become a trend for the Petes, they responded immediately with a power play goal by Rylan Scott and the game was all tied up heading into the intermission.

The Petes opened the scoring early in the second period with a goal from Sawyer Spencley, but then found themselves in some penalty trouble.  The Petes did a great job of killing off a 5 on 3 Gens powerplay, but the momentum began to shift Oshawa’s way and the Gens managed to tie the game up at the halfway mark of the period.

After seeing the game tied up, the Petes seemed to shake off their road legs and began to take control of the game.  Following a flurry of pressure by the Petes, Cole Scanlan managed to break the tie with three minutes left in the second period and the Petes never looked back.

The third period saw the Petes dominate the Gens and solidify their top spot in the division standings.  Griffith Coupland gave the Petes some breathing room with a power play goal halfway through the period and Scanlan picked up his second of the night with five minutes to go in the game, allowing the Petes to cruise to a 5-2 victory.

Assists on the night went to Riley Hagerman (2), Olivia Mercer (2), Tristan Lehman and Coupland.

The Petes improved their record to 8-0 in league play and built their current winning streak to 9 games.  Next up is a Saturday (Oct. 22) afternoon clash with the Northumberland Nighthawks.
