Jack McVicar Minor Atom AE Petes Notch a Pair of Weekend Wins
The Jack McVicar Professional Corporation Minor Atom AE Petes got back on track this weekend with a pair of wins.

Saturday (Nov. 12) saw the Petes travel to Deseronto for a meeting with the Belleville Jr. Bulls.  The Petes were determined to avenge their recent loss to the Bulls and started play in the first period with sustained pressure in the offensive zone.  The Bulls goaltending held fast for most of the period, but Griffith Coupland was able to break through and open the scoring with a last minute goal.

The second period saw a continuation of the Petes pressure and more offensive output as Riley Hagerman, Cole Scanlan, Olivia Mercer and Sawyer Spencley all lit up the goal light to give the Petes a 5-0 lead heading into the third.

The Petes scoring was rounded out by a second marker from Hagerman in the third period and although the Bulls were able to break through for a couple of late goals, the outcome was never in doubt and the Petes walked away with a 6-2 victory.

Assists during the game went to Archer Stalteri (2), Tristan Lehmann, Jordan Garfat, Caeden Kent, Tye Hill, Spencley, Coupland and Scanlan.

Olivia Mercer was named the Petes “Hardest Working Player” for the game.

The Petes returned home on Sunday (Nov. 13) for a matchup with the Pickering Panthers. The Petes put heavy pressure on the Panthers from the opening faceoff until the final whistle and skated away with an impressive 10-0 win on the backs of goals from Cole Scanlan (3), Archer Stalteri (2), Griffith Coupland, Riley Hagerman, Tristan Lehmann, Sawyer Spencley and Caeden Kent.

Assists for the game came from Kent (4), Coupland (3), Spencley (3), Riley Hagerman (2), Stalteri, Tobey Skopelianos, Adam Revak, Scanlan and Rylan Scott.  Bradley Montgomery and Brody Bolton combined for the shutout.

Archer Stalteri was named as the team’s “Hardest Working Player” for the game.

The Petes improved to 12-2 on the season and retained first place in league standings.  Next up is a matchup with the Whitby Wildcats on Saturday (Nov. 20).
