Jack McVicar Minor Atom AE Petes Continue to Roll
The Jack McVicar Professional Corporation Minor Atom AE Petes clinched first place in league standings with a win over the Northumberland Nighthawks on Sunday (Dec. 11).

The Petes opened the scoring on the first shift of the game when Cole Scanlan banged home his own rebound.  Northumberland recovered quickly and the remainder of the period saw lots of back and forth play, with the goaltenders holding strong at both ends of the rink.

The second period saw a blitz of scoring with an 80 second stretch where Northumberland pulled even, Caeden Kent brought the Petes ahead with a shorthanded goal and the Nighthawks buried a power play marker to draw even.

With the score knotted at 2, the Petes turned up the pressure and managed to put the game out of reach when Tobey Skopelianos, Sawyer Spencley and Archer Stalteri all lit the goal lamp to close out the second period.

The third period saw more pressure from the Petes, with Tristan Lehmann adding some cushion to the lead and Kent adding his second of the afternoon to complete the scoring and give the Petes a 7-2 victory.

Assists during the game went to Olivia Mercer (3), Tye Hill (2), Adam Revak, Griff Coupland, Jordan Garfat, Lehmann, Kent, Skopelianos and Spencley.  Sawyer Spencley was named the Petes hardest working player of the game.

The Petes improved their record in league play to 18-2 and will put their 8 game win streak on the line when they play in Pickering Tuesday night (Dec. 13).
