FCI Window Minor Peewee's come away with an undefeated weekend with 1 win and 2 ties

The FCI Windows minor peewee AA Petes went undefeated in recent Lakeshore League play. 

The team travelled to Port Perry Friday night (Dec. 8) to play the league-leading North Durham Warriors. 

Peterborough opened the scoring in the second period when Griffith Coupland knocked in a lose puck. The assist went to Travis Maxwell. 

Peterborough made it 2-0 in the third frame when Michael Hancock tipped in a point shot from Jagger Thompson. Owen Fitzgerald also had an assist. 

Despite a strong push late in the game from North Durham, Peterborough held on for the 2-0 win. Carter Winter earned the shutout in net. 

On Saturday, Peterborough travelled to Belleville to take on the junior Bulls. 

Following a scoreless first period, Peterborough’s Coupland scored on a breakaway in the second to give Peterborough a 1-0 lead. Belleville tied it up 15 seconds later and the teams went into the third period tied 1-1. The Bulls took the lead with a goal half-way through the frame, but the Petes battled back to tie it up with five minutes left in the game. 

The game would end in a 2-2 tie. Landon Smelt had a strong game in net for Peterborough. 

The two teams met again Sunday in Peterborough, but with the same result. 

Peterborough’s Hancock opened the scoring in the second period, unassisted. 

Belleville would score in the opening seconds of the third period to make it a 1-1 game. 

The Petes Nolan Mason gave Peterborough the lead at the halfway mark of the period, but the Bulls would tie the game back up when the scored a power play goal late in the game. The score would remain 2-2. 

Winter had a strong game in net.
