Last night
the Peterborough Mr. Sub U15 AE Petes travelled to Oshawa for an exhibition
game versus their long time rivals the Oshawa Minor Generals. The excitement level was high as it has been
over 18 months since the Petes have travelled outside of Peterborough to play
rep hockey.
The game started with a fast pace as the Petes took control of the play scoring their first goal at 13:07 of the first period. The Petes continued to apply pressure throughout the period creating many quality scoring chances. The Generals would then answer back late in the first period to tie up the game. The Petes would then answer back before the period ended by scoring their second goal, taking a 2-1 lead into the second period. The second period was highlighted by the Generals taking multiple penalties. The Petes took full advantage of their powerplay time by outscoring the general 6 - 1 giving the Petes an 8 – 2 lead going into the 3rd period. The Generals came onto the ice inspired in the 3rd period and scored an early goal to make the score 8 – 3. The Petes would then shutdown the Generals by playing a smart period of hockey, being disciplined, and playing exceptional defense.
Final score was 8 - 3 in favour of your Peterborough Mr. Sub U15 AE Petes.
The goaltending load was split between both Carter K. and Adam M. which did an exceptional job keeping the puck out of the net. Making timely saves that kept the Generals from gaining any kind of momentum.
