U13 AE Make it to Finals in Windsor Tournament
The U13 AE Shaun McNevan Century 21 PHA Petes attended the Merton and Holland Memorial Tournament in Windsor this weekend.  The boys started out strong and won the first two games 2-1 against Belle River and Amherstburg.  The boys played well and fought hard.

Going into Saturday game three, Tecumseh came out hard and took the Petes by surprise. Tecumseh went up 3-0 after two periods but Peterborough came out flying in the third and scored to make it 3-1, with Tecumseh scoring again to make it 4-1, Peterborough needed another goal so that they got at least 1 point for winning the period.  With a minute left in the third Petes scored to make it 4-2 and won the period, giving them a much needed point.
Going in to the fourth and final game in the round robin Peterborough needed to win each period, the game and if they were able to get a shut out for an extra point would help to get them in the top four to move on to Sunday.  Our boys game out flying keeping the puck in the offensive end most of the first but could not put it passed Southpoints goalie until 1 minute and 32 seconds left in the period making it 1-0.  The second period went scoreless which meant we only got half a point.  Going into the third we needed a goal and a shut out for even a hope to move on.  Petes scored at the 8 minute mark and then again at the 7 minute mark, now they just had to hold off Southpoint so they could get the shutout.  Coen Robinson stood on his head saving a few breakaways and the rest of the team did whatever they could to make sure that puck did not touch the back of our net.  Final score 3-0 now was a wait and see game to see if we had enough points to move on.  The shutout point put us in third and without it we would have been out.
Sunday here we come.........  Semifinals we play Caledon the boys came out working hard right from the start.  We scored in the first to make it 1-0, scored in the second to make it 2-0. Still working hard and driving to the puck our boys scored again in the third to make it 3-0 but Caledon was not going to lie down without a fight and started putting more pressure on us and scored to make it 3-1. With lots of time still left on the clock, the PHA Petes kept working and played great defensively, to come out with the win and to move on to the Finals.
The finals started and we were all over Glancaster, just could not put it past their goalie.  A couple of bad bounces and the boys saw themselves down 4-0.  It didn't matter they still continued to fight for the puck and work hard. We scored to make it 4-1 then another bad bounce off one of our defense blocking a shot left a wide open net and Glancaster scored and made it 5-1.   Final score was 7-1 but coming out with the Silver metal and second place out of 12 teams is pretty darn good.  The coaching Staff are very proud of all the boys for all their hard work and determination.  We represented Peterborough very well on and off the ice.  Back to the regular season this week with a couple of big games coming up.....  See you all at the rink
