Game Results: Game @ Whitby Wildcats Blue
On Wednesday the Petes made their way down the 401 to Whitby for a matchup versus the Whitby Wildcats Blue team.  This was the first meeting of the two teams and the Petes were eager and up for the challenge of facing the top Whitby team.

The first period started with the Petes playing some stellar defense as they managed to keep the Wildcats offense to the outside in the Petes zone and not allow many scoring opportunities from the slot.  Even though the Petes would be outshot in the period, they weathered the storm and didn’t surrender a goal.  The score was 0-0 at the end of the period.

The second period continued with the Petes frustrating the Wildcats with their disciplined defensive positioning until with less than ten minutes remaining in the period when the Wildcats opened the scoring.  Even after the goal the Petes didn’t quit and with under five minutes remaining the Wildcats took a penalty.   The Petes powerplay had the opportunity to tie up the game.  However, on this night it would not be the case as the Wildcats penalty killers were up to the task and took advantage of a Petes miscue and scored a shorthanded goal.  This goal would prove to the turning point in the gaime as the Wildcats were motivated and would score a couple more goals before the end of the period.  The score at the end of the period was 4-0 in favour of the Wildcats.

In the third period the Wildcats continued to have momentum on their sides and scored another three goals within the first five minutes of the period.  The main highlight of the period for the Petes occurred at 4:42 left in the period when the Petes were assessed two minor penalties.  The Petes penalty killers would know be required to kill off a 5 on 3 Wildcats powerplay.  On this night the Petes penalty killers were outstanding as they shut down the Wildcats power play and killed off both penalties.  Way to go Petes!

The Petes next game will be against the Quinte West Hawks at the Kinsmen on Saturday, November 12th @ 8:15 PM.
