On Monday
night the Petes meet up once again with the Ajax-Pickering Raiders. The Petes were looking to better their performance
against the Raiders in a game where the Petes lost 9-5 in a game that was full
of offence but was littered with defensive mistakes by both teams. The petes were looking to build off the win versus
Northumberland and send a message to the division that the Petes are here to
compete.
The first period started with the Petes putting the pressure on the Raiders and within 22 seconds opened the scoring to take a 1-0 lead. The game action was fast and went end to end with chances to score by both teams. Scoring would go back and forth and the final score at the end of the first period was tied 3-3.
In the second period the Raiders showed up to play. Both teams would receive minor penalties in the period, but the Raiders would be the only team to take advantage and score. The Raiders had all the momentum in the game and would be rewarded three times in the period to extend their lead to 6-3 going into the second intermission.
An energized Petes team took to the ice in the third period. The Petes tightened up defensively and kept the Raiders scoring chances to only a few. The Petes would have their own chance to score but the Raiders goalie was up to the challenge and didn’t allow a goal in the period. The Raiders however were able to score on one of their attempts and the game would end in favour of the Raiders 7-3.
The Petes started off great, but the Raiders were able to weather the storm and outwork the Petes in the second period to secure the victory.
The Petes next game is against the Belleville Bulls on Saturday, December 3rd @ 8:15 PM.
