Aurora Tigers Tournament CHAMPIONS
The U14AA Mader Properties & Mitigation Services Petes travelled to Aurora this weekend to take part in the 52nd Annual U14 & U15 Aurora Tournament and emerged as U14AA Division champions!
The team defeated the Toronto Royals by a score of 4-2 in the opening game of preliminary round play. They then went on to tie both the Aurora Tigers and the Ottawa Sting in the next 2 games, both with scores of 2-2. Final game of the divisional play saw the Petes take on the London Junior Knights in a feisty game that ended in a 5-1 loss for the Petes. The score was not indicative of team play as the team battled hard for the first two periods before the game got away from them.
Even with the loss, the Petes finished second in their division and moved on to the semi-finals on Sunday morning against the same London Junior Knights. Playing with a short bench due to injuries, the boys dug deep and played an excellent game against London and came out with a hard-fought 2-1 victory. That win put them in the Championship game against the Flamborough Sabres. Again, the team followed the plan, played hard and ended their weekend with a 6-2 win and a championship banner.
