The ServiceMaster Restore Minor Atom A Peterborough Petes defeated the Pickering Panthers 7-0 Saturday (Jan. 28). It was the Petes’ first game in the Lakeshore League playoffs. Goaltender Quinton Ross earned the shutout and, while Peterborough dominated most of the game, Ross had to make a few big saves early on as Pickering came out strong. Ethan Lacey put Peterborough on the board with an unassisted goal early in the first frame. With the 1-0 lead, Peterborough began to control the pace of the game.
About two minutes into the second period, the Petes’ Drew Stabler made it 2-0. DJ Crough and Lacey picked up assists. About 20 seconds later, Lacey then notched his second of the game to give Peterborough a 3-0 lead.
Two minutes into the third period Stabler scored his second of the game to increase Peterborough’s lead to four goals. Crough had the assist. Lacey scored his third of the game with three minutes remaining when he scored off a Josh Watson pass. With less than a minute later, Joey Donoghue increased the Petes’ lead to 6-0. Lyndon Jarbeau had the assist. And Watson scored with 18 seconds left in the game to make it 7-0 Peterborough. Crough and Lacey picked up assists.
