ServiceMaster Restore Minor Atom A Petes Take Their Lakeshore Playoff Series by Storm
The ServiceMaster Restore Minor Atom A Peterborough Petes defeated the Clarington Toros 6-0 in Lakeshore League playoff action Monday (Jan. 30). Peterborough’s Drew Stabler opened the scoring early in the first period with an unassisted goal. Peterborough opened up a two-goal lead when Joey Donoghue scored with one second remaining in the first period. DJ Crough made it 3-0 Petes when he scored a power play goal a minute-and-a-half into the second period. Cooper Lawson had the assist.
Less than two minutes later, Vernie O’Brien scored to give Peterborough a commanding 4-0 lead. Andrew Wasson had the assist. Ethan Lacey extended Peterborough’s lead to 5-0 when he scored a shorthanded goal about halfway through the second period. Clarington played a strong third period with a number of shots, but were unable to score on Carter Winter, who earned the shutout. Wasson scored late in the third period frame to give Peterborough the 6-0 win. The Petes host Pickering in the third game of the series on Wednesday night (Feb. 1).
