The FCI Windows atom AA Peterborough Petes opened up the OMHA playdowns on Sunday (Jan. 28) with a 6-2 win over the Whitby Wildcats.
Peterborough jumped on the board early, scoring in the opening seconds of the game. They would stretch their lead to 6-0 by the third period before the Wildcats could find the scoreboard. Whitby would score once more before the game ended 6-2 for Peterborough.
The Petes enter the playoffs with a record of 56-3-2 as they look to win the OMHA championship.
The first-place Petes have faced the fourth-place Wildcats four times this year. Peterborough has won each game.
Game two takes place Thursday (Feb. 1) in Whitby, while game three is back in Peterborough Saturday (Feb. 3). Game four, if necessary, is Sunday (Feb. 4) in Whitby.
