Atom AA Heading to Lakeshore Finals
The RBC Dominion Securities Atom AA team has moved on to the Lakeshore final vs Whitby.  After loosing out of OMHA’s to the Clarington Torso the Petes have set their sites high to come out strong winning the Lakeshore finals.

The first series saw the Petes face off in a round robin vs Kingston and Ajax.  This was a tight series and came down to the final knockout game vs Ajax.  Peterborough made a statement knocking the higher ranked team from Ajax out and moving on with Kingston to round two.

The second round was yet another round robin vs Kingston and Belleville, who both play extremely physical and high paced games.  During this series the Petes dominated knocking Kingston out before the final game against Belleville.

This set up a very bitter semi final series vs Belleville, a team who Peterborough battled to a 0-0 tie in the earlier round robin.  The first game of the semi was in Belleville and Peterborough was able to get the better of them in a hard fought, defensive game.  The return match in Peterborough, did not go so well and Belleville caught the home team flat footed and evened up the series.  Game three was this passed Saturday in Belleville. Early on the Petes were on a roll taking a 3-0 lead into the third period.  However the team ran into penalty problems and Belleville was able to tie it up late in the third.  Overtime would prove nothing and the teams came back to Peterborough for game 4 Sunday, tied at three points each.  Game three was a close game in front of an energetic crowd and saw both teams find the back of each others net in the second period.  However, Peterborough was able to snap the tie in the third and seal it with and empty netter to take control of the series.  The two teams faced off tonight in Belleville for the third game in three nights and seventh in two weeks vs each other.  Tonights game was yet another extremely tight game which saw Peterborough take an early lead, but Belleville tied it with minutes left in the third.  As the two teams headed to overtime, a tie would be enough for Peterborough to clinch a birth to the finals.  Both teams traded chances throughout overtime, but Belleville became undisciplined and took two penalties late in overtime which helped Peterborough secure the tie, and single point to win the series.  All players and goaltenders have been contributing and the success has been a complete team effort.

The Atom AA Petes, who are one of three teams still playing, will now face off against the first place team, Whitby, for Lakeshore league finals.  Clarington who is currently in the OMHA finals will play off with Caledon.  Good luck and congratulations to the Petes team for coming together at the right time, and proving that they are a team who will not go down without a fight. Go Petes Go
