The FCI Windows minor peewee AA Peterborough Petes had a win, a loss and a two ties at the Whitby Regional Silver Stick this past weekend (Nov. 23 to 25). 


The FCI Windows minor peewee AA Peterborough Petes had a win, a loss and a two ties at the Whitby Regional Silver Stick this past weekend (Nov. 23 to 25). 

The team just came one point short of earning a berth into the semi-finals. 

The Petes opened the tournament Thursday against Westhill. Peterborough held a 2-1 lead late in the game, but Westhill was able to score. The game ended in a 2-2 tie. 

Scoring for Peterborough were Owen Fitzgerald and Griffith Coupland. Assists went to Jagger Thompson, Ethan Lacey, Lucas Tataryn and Graydon Jones. 

Later Thursday, Peterborough battled Ajax to a 1-1 tie. Again, the Petes held the lead with less than a minute to go in the game but Ajax was able to tie it up. Scoring for Peterborough was Fitzgerald with Thompson picking up the assist. 

The Petes didn’t play again until Saturday when they faced the top-ranked (and eventual tournament champions) Mississauga Terriers. Mississauga was up 3-1 with four minutes to go in the game when the Petes scored a power play goal to pull within one. However, Peterborough was unable to complete the comeback and skated away with a 3-2 loss. 

Scoring for Peterborough were Emerson Taylor and Lacey. Assists went to Nolan Mason, Owen Leahy and Jones. 

In the team’s final game, they played against Leaside. Tied 1-1 and with time running out, Leaside pulled their goalie as they needed a win to advance to the semi-finals. The Petes scored an empty-net goal to take the 2-1 win. 

Scoring for Peterborough was Travis Maxwell and Coupland. Tataryn had the lone assist.
