Service Master Restore Minor Peewee AE Petes Claim Victory in Game 5
The Service Master Restore Minor Peewee AE Petes rose to the occasion on Tuesday night (Feb. 26) to claim a 3-1 victory over the Whitby Wildcats.  With the win, the Petes extended their season and secured a spot in the Lakeshore semi-finals.

In what was a hard fought series from start to finish, the 5th game proved to be no different, as both teams came out firing on all cylinders. After a scoreless, back and forth first period, the Petes continued the series trend by opening the scoring midway through the second when James Chandra stripped the puck from a Wildcat’s defenceman and skated in to blast a shot past the Whitby netminder.

The lead would be short lived as the Wildcats scored in the dying minute of the second frame to tie things up heading into the final period.

Following a quick chat at the intermission, the Petes hit the ice flying for the third period. An early penalty looked like it might swing some momentum in Whitby’s favour, but the Petes penalty kill unit was up to the task on this night. After a successful penalty kill, the arena could feel the momentum going full force in the Pete’s favour.  Following a couple of great scoring chances, the Petes hard work would pay off as Sawyer Spencley broke out into a 2 on 1, where he would feed the puck cross ice for DJ Crough to tip home.

After another successful penalty kill and with only 3 minutes to play, Crough would insert the dagger into Whitby’s season as he stickhandled through three of Whitby’s defenders before burying the game’s final goal.

The Petes will now be moving on to the Lakeshore Semi-Finals where they will be pitted against Northumberland and North Durham in a round robin series.
