Service Master Restore Minor Peewee AE Petes Open Lakeshore Finals with a Split
The Service Master Restore Minor Peewee AE Petes travelled to Belleville on Saturday night (March 16) where they opened the Lakeshore Finals against the Bulls. The Petes showed some early dominance in the game, including a near miss on the opening shift when DJ Crough rang one off the Bulls crossbar, but the Bulls were able to weather the storm and took advantage of a scoring chance in the dying minute of the opening period to take the early lead.

The Bulls would open up the lead with a last minute goal in the second period and then it looked like the Petes might be primed for a comeback when Matthew Sokolski converted a pass from Sam Dickey to pull the Petes within a goal. The momentum was short lived though as the Bulls replied with a goal on their next shift and followed it up with their 4th of the night moments later.  Riley Hagerman would score late for the Petes (assisted by Crough), but it wasn’t enough as the Petes fell 4-2.

The Petes were determined to even up the series as they played host for game two on Sunday afternoon (March 17). After giving up a power play goal early in the first period, the rest of the game was controlled by the Petes strong play. The Petes would get on the scoreboard late in the first period when Sokolski cleaned up a juicy rebound and then the Petes would pull ahead for good when Josh Watson and Andrew Wasson scored a pair of goals in the second the period. Will Mattie would round out the scoring and put the game out of reach with an early third period goal. Assists during the game went to James Chandra, Ben Herder, Crough, Sokolski and Mattie, while Nathan Crossley was solid between the pipes to pick up the win.

The Lakeshore finals will resume on Saturday night in Belleville before heading back to Peterborough for game four on Sunday afternoon.

The Petes would like to thank Your TV for their support during this season.
