The Service Master Restore Minor Peewee AE Petes captured the Pickering Spring Thaw Championship on the weekend with a 3-0 victory in the final over the Ajax Knights A team.
The Petes opened the tournament on Friday with a pair of hard fought wins over the Halton Hills Thunder (4-2) and the Orangeville Flyers (5-1), but seemed to come out flat on Saturday and struggled through the day with a pair of 3-1 losses to Whitby and Markham.
Sunday morning's semi-final saw the Petes matched up against Whitby for a chance at redemption and they didn't let their fans down as they played three solid periods of hockey and advanced to the finals after a decisive 3-1 win.
Sunday afternoon saw the Petes pitted against the undefeated Ajax Knights team, but rolling with the momentum from the morning game, the Petes quickly took control of the game and skated away with the 3-0 victory.
The tournament victory was testament to the strong play of the Petes over the past month and they hope to finish the season off with another strong performance when they take on the Stouffville Clippers for the Lakeshore/York Simcoe Challenge this weekend in Whitby.
