The Peterborough Major Bantam AE Petes are 2018-10 Lakeshore League champions.   The Peterborough Major Bantam AE Petes captured the Lakeshore League championship over the weekend, sweeping the Whitchurch-Stouffville Clippers in three games. It was a remarkable run for the Petes, who defeated Ajax and Northumberland in their round-robin quarterfinal series to advance to play Whitby in the semifinals. After tying Game 1, the Petes lost the next two to trail five points to one in the six-point series. The Petes roared back to win the next three games, including a 4-0 sudden-death Game 6, to advance to the final. In Game 1, the Petes won 2-1. Harrison Booth had both goals with assists to Owen Hazeldine, Ashton Wright and Patrick Neville. In Game 2, the Petes battled to a 2-1 overtime win. Jamie Cooper scored with less than three mins left to tie the game, assisted by J.P. Corkery and Brennan Neild. Hazeldine scored an unassisted OT winner. In Game 3, the Petes sealed the championship with a 2-1 win. Corkery scored the first goal, assisted by Ali El-Amir and Jayden Northey. Hazeldine scored the game winner, assisted by Corkery and Cameron West. Both Peterborough goaltenders, Kyle Johnson and Jacob Downer, were outstanding throughout the playoff run. They shared the top goaltending statistics for the Bantam AE division in the Lakeshore playoffs.
