Season Ends for the NDB Firm and Associates Major Bantam A Petes
The playoff series ended for the NDB Firm and Associates Major Bantam A Petes on Monday night in Clarington. The Petes lost this series of playoff games 3-0 in games.

On Friday, March 1, the Petes travelled to Clarington to play the first game of this playoff series. Clarington came out strong and in the end they defeated the Pete’s team 7-3. Peterborough goals were scored by Kaiden Bletsoe, Nathan Burke and Chris Girardi with assists awarded to Cole Lester, Nick Stinson, Liam Vollans and Girardi. Ryder Hadwyn tended net for the game.

Game two back in Peterborough on Saturday, March 2 resulted in a 5-2 loss for the Petes. Cole Lester and Callan Baker scored for the Petes with assists to Lucas DiBella, Nick Stinson, Matthew Robinson and Lester. Kyan Micks had responsibility for the goaltending duties.

The Petes needed a win or a tie to keep playing as they travelled back to Clarington on Monday, March 4. The Petes were on fire in the first period with Nick Stinson scoring the first goal of the game assisted by Cole Lester and Chris Girardi. The Clarington Toros retaliated quickly with a goal to make it a 1-1 game. With less than two minutes left in the first period, Clarington scored again to take a 2-1 lead over the Petes.

In the second period, Peterborough’s Liam Vollans scored assisted by Lucas Dibella and Matthew Robinson to tie the game but Clarington game back with two quick goals to again take the lead 4-2.

Clarington scored again in the third period to make it a 5-2 game. With less than three minutes left in the game, Pete’s defenseman Vincent Galeazza scored assisted by Cole Lester to make it a 5-3 game. Forty seconds left in the game Cole Lester took a pass from Vincent Galeazza and scored again for the Petes making it a 5-4 game. The team battled hard but the game ended with Clarington winning 5-4 and ousting the Petes in this playoff series. Ryder Hadwyn played a superb game in netting stopping 28 shots throughout the game.

 

After the game Head Coach Shawn Micks said, “the boys played their hearts out and in the end we just ran out of time and couldn’t chase the game down. They didn’t give up and as a coaching staff that’s what we love to see. As a staff, this team seemed to always find a way to bring effort to our games and we thank them for that. It was a great experience for me and the other staff.”
