Hard Fought Weekend
This past weekend the Novice AA Under Armour Petes had 2 games against 2 very strong teams – one away and one at home.

Saturday, the team travelled North West to Uxbridge to face off against North Durham. This was the first time these payers had played in this arena, and what a small arena it was. With such a small ice surface to play on, and large opponents, the players knew they would have to play even faster than they normally would. The game plan was simple – the players needed to get their heads up and make hockey plays.

Right from puck drop, the players knew this was going to be a tough battle. The North Durham players were bigger, and stronger, but this didn’t deter the Petes. They dug deep and made this game a real barn burner for all of the spectators. After both halves were played, the Petes came out on top – with 3 wins and 1 loss.

Sunday, the Petes were set to play against Kingston at the Evinrude. After such a hard fought battle the day before, no one was certain if the players would have anything left in the tank for this match up. Right off the opening face-off, the players struggled to find their legs…and the back of the net. The play was fast paced, with lots of shots and all goal tenders coming up big when needed. With all of the activity, it was hard to determine which team found the back of the net more. And when the dust settled, it ended in a split decision, with both teams winning 2 of the 4 matchups.

The Novice AA Petes are back in action this weekend when they travel to Ottawa for the Capital Fall Classic.

1 2 3…..Petes!!!
