1 & 1 Weekend
This past weekend, the Novice AA Under Armour Petes faced off twice in regular season play against 2 different opponents. It was both a successful and tough weekend for these young players.

On Saturday, the team travelled to Cobourg where they hit the ice against Northumberland. The Petes started out strong, and really showcased their ability to move the puck to one another. Puck possession was fairly even throughout the firJan_22.20.JPGst, with both teams getting their chances on net. Neither team could capitalize on their chances, until Kekki opened the scoring for the Petes late in the first with an unassisted goal. This got things rolling, and the momentum continued to carry in the second with two more goals for Peterborough; another from Kekki, assisted by Reid, and one from Fox, assisted by Simpson. This put the Petes up 3-0 going into the third and they carried this through to the final buzzer. With strong play and great teamwork, the Petes were able to overcome Northumberland. The shutout went to Davies, and two penalties were taken by Kekki and Marshall.

On Sunday, the team did not fare so well when Kingston visited the tJan_23.20.JPGeam at the Evinrude. The Petes started out very strong. They were sound positionally, and their passes were on the mark. It was a great first period for both teams. In the second, Kingston was able to overpower the Petes and get one past Xuereb to take the lead 1-0. The Petes maintained the play, however were unable to counter with a goal of their own. And unfortunately, in the third, the wheels fell off. The Kingston forecheck and backcheck was more present and they capitalized with 3 more unanswered goals. The pressure at the net just wasn’t there for Peterborough, with only 14 shots on goal in the entire game. There was a spark for the Petes when they scored midway through the third, however the goal was disallowed as neither ref motioned that it went in. Penalties were given to Fuller and Reil.

The Petes hope to bounce back this weekend when they complete their regular season against Belleville and Whitby.
