Sunday Jan 5th ...a great day for Canada winning the Gold Medal at the World Juniors and the 180 Hunter Minor Atom AA Petes finish off their season with pair of wins over top teams Clarington and Belleville respectively . Guaranteeing a finish of anywhere from 2nd place to 4th place in the league of 12 teams.
This great group of young players had an amazing season compiling a 17-7-3 league play record and in 3 tournaments went 8-4-1...Knocking off the number 4 ranked team in Ontario the Burlington Eagles to win the PHA Early bird event...These kids have come together as a group, shown immense improvements in many facets of theirs games....They personify the word team where ,many in our league had 1-3 very strong players this group had 8 players score 10 or more goals....On any given day someone steps up and leads this team. Defensively this group of 6 d Whetung, Ashfield, Anderson, Chatten, McKinlay and Whittington along with the stellar goaltending of Matty Colling have led the league in goals against and will likely finish 1st or 2nd after the final weekend games are played
Some players have played all forward positions and learned new skills and challenged themselves to be and get better every day...The Forward group of Dow, Merrick, Delaney, Hawley, Arnott, Johnson, Kennedy, Shearer and Cook are deep and have been a load to handle for opposing teams from day 1....Congrats to the boys and families on a great season thus far . A pleasure to be part of this great group of people..
Now on to the playoffs....Here's hoping good things continue to happen to this deserving group of youngsters.
