Peterborough Welding Services Peewee A Petes Split Weekend Games
Following a hard fought loss to the Whitby Wildcats on Saturday, the Peterborough Welding Services Peewee A Petes rebounded with a strong performance on Sunday night on route to a convincing 8-1 win over the Pickering Panthers.

The Petes opened the scoring only minutes into the game when Travis Maxwell drove the net to bury his first of the year.  The Petes would be held off the scoreboard until the opening minutes of the 2nd period, but then a couple of quick goals from Lucas Tataryn and Michael Hancock would put them out in front for good.  Maxwell, Hancock and Tobey Skopelianos would finish the night with a pair of goals each, with Vernie O’Brien rounding out the scoring.  Assists on the night went to Hancock (2), Riley Hagerman (2), Skopelianos, Tataryn, Rylan Scott and Tye Hill.  James Sullivan was strong in net to pick up the win, including a key save on a second period penalty shot.

Saturday’s game was a momentum building experience for the Petes.  Coming off a couple of poor performances, the Petes went into Whitby to challenge one of the top ranked teams in the province. While the Petes would come up just short in the 4-2 loss, their strong play was a sign of good things to come.  Scoring for the Petes in the game were Hagerman and Carter Christensen, with an assist going to Josh Watson.

The Petes will be taking a break from league play as they now head to Halton Hills for a Thanksgiving weekend tournament.
