Last night
the Peterborough Mr. Sub U15 AE Petes travelled to Whitby to play against the
Wildcats. With the previous meeting
between the Petes and Wildcats ending in a 1-1 tie there were some unresolved
issues to be handled.
The first period started out fast for both teams. Whitby scored early by taking advantage of a turnover in the neutral zone giving them the lead 42 seconds into the game. The Petes would not get rattled by the quick goal and persisted on raising the tempo of the game utilizing their speed and skill. The Petes were rewarded for their hard work with a goal two minutes later, this tied the game up 1-1 before the end of the 1st period.
In the second period the Petes would take control of the game. The Petes continued to pressure the Wildcats out shooting them in the period and scoring 2 more goals to extend the lead to 3-1. Although not many, but the Wildcats did have a few quality scoring chances in the period, however Carter K. was up to the challenge and shut the door on the Wildcats.
The third period was a repeat of the second period with the Petes out shooting the Wildcats once again. Great discipline was showed by the Petes players as the Wildcats tried to take control of the game by being more physical. Whitby would then pull their goalie with 2:33 minutes left in hopes of scoring a goal. However, this would not be the case as the Petes stripped the puck from the Wildcats player and put the puck into the empty net. The Petes would add another powerplay goal before the end of the period. On this night the stars aligned and the Petes were not to be denied this victory. The final score would have the Petes on top winning the game 5-1. Way to go Petes!
