Service Master Restore Atom AE Petes Advance to OMHA Quarter-Finals
Following a hard fought series with the Oshawa Minor Generals, the Service Master Restore Atom AE Petes have advanced to the OMHA Quarter-Finals.

Following a first round bye, the Petes opened their playoff run on Feb. 1 with a home game against the Generals. This game would see the Petes dominate all areas from start to finish except the scoreboard.  The Generals goalie stood strong in net and propelled them to a 2-1 victory, and an early lead in the series.  The Petes lone goal came from Jayden Howson in the dying seconds of the game.

Game two saw the Petes travel to Oshawa for a Saturday afternoon tilt (Feb. 3). The Petes were determined to get the offense back on track and Howson seemed willing to take the reigns as he notched a hat trick and added an assist to cap off a 4 point game while leading the Petes to a 6-2 victory. Riley Hagerman, Caeden Kent and Josh Watson rounded out the scoring with assists going to Jack Pacey, Adam Revak, Sam Dickey, James Chandra and Watson. Brody Carrick was strong in net to pick up the win.

The Petes would gain control of the series when they returned home on Feb. 5 and treated the local fans to a 3-1 victory. Scoring for the Petes were Joe Donoghue, James Chandra and Riley Hagerman, with assists coming from Kent, Howson, Revak, Watson and Cole Scanlan. The win was backed by a determined goaltending performance from Bradley Montgomery.

With a chance to close out the series, the Petes travelled to Oshawa on Feb. 8. Howson would continue to enjoy playing at the Campus Ice Centre as he followed up his stellar performance from the following week by opening the scoring early in the second.  The Generals would battle back and tie things up in the final minute of the second period, but a short-handed goal by Kent early in the third would be the decisive blow that the Petes needed.  Kent would add one more goal to round out the scoring and give the Petes a 3-1 victory.  Assists during the game went to Jordan Garfat, Olivia Mercer, Kent and Pacey and Carrick picked up the win in net.

The Petes will now have to wait to see who advances from the Northumberland/Whitby series, but are anxious to keep the playoff run going and look forward to the next step in their journey.

The Petes would like to thank this week’s sponsor of the week – Kinnear Lock & Key.
