Peterborough ServiceMaster Minor Atom A Petes face off against the Quinte West Hawks in the first round of the OMHA playdowns. Peterborough dropped game one to Quinte 6-2 Friday night (Jan. 13). Scoring for Peterborough were Lyndon Jarbeau and Lucas Tataryn. Assists went to Ethan Lacey and Andrew Wasson. The two teams meet again Wednesday and Thursday.

The ServiceMaster Restore Minor Atom A Peterborough Petes made it to the semifinals of the Liftlock Atom Hockey Tournament. While the Petes played a solid game, they were unable to score and lost 3-0 to the eventual D Division champions Whitby Wildcats. The Petes had the honour of playing in the tournament’s official opening game. Along with the game being broadcast on TVCogeco, the winning team was also awarded the Chris Fee Cup. The Petes had an early jump on the Markham Waxers with Lucas Tataryn opening the scoring in the first period when his shot from the point found the top corner. The ServiceMaster Restore Minor Atom A Peterborough Petes finished second at the Regional Northumberland Silver Stick. The Petes lost a close 2-1 game in the final to the top-ranked Uxbridge Stars. Peterborough opened the tournament against Quinte West. Quinte jumped out to a 2-0 lead heading into the second period. DJ Crough made it a 2-1 game when he tapped in a cross-crease pass from Ethan Lacey. Cooper Lawson tied the game with an unassisted goal. Peterborough took the lead late in the third period when Lacey knocked in a rebound. Drew Stabler and Lawson had the assists. Peterborough held on for the 3-2 win.
