Service Master Restore Atom AE Petes Lose out in Power Play Semi’s
The Service Master Restore Atom AE Petes were eliminated in the semi-finals of the Guelph Power Play tournament (Nov. 19) after losing a hard fought 4-2 decision to the West London Hawks.

The game opened with both teams flying, but West London was first to hit the scoreboard when they notched a pair of first period goals.  The Petes were quick to respond with a pair of their own goals, when Sam Dickey and Tobey Skopelianos notched markers 16 seconds apart from one another. All four goals came within a 2 minute stretch of first period hockey.

The game would remain knotted until early in the third when the Hawks found the net with the eventual game winner and sealed the game with a late period marker.

Assists for the Petes came from Dickey, Archer Stalteri and Olivia Mercer.

On the road to the semi-finals, the Petes fought to a pair of 1-1 ties with the Waterloo Wolves and Guelph Gryphons on Friday (Nov. 17). Goals in those games came from Dickey and Skopelianos, with assists going to Stalteri and Jack Pacey.

Saturday morning (Nov. 18) saw the Petes get back to form with a convincing 5-2 win over the Stratford Warriors which extended their undefeated streak to 20 games. After falling behind 2-0 in the first period, the Petes responded with 5 unanswered goals in the second and third from Skopelianos, Dickey, Caeden Kent, Cole Scanlan and James Chandra.  Assists during the game came from Stalteri (2), Kent (2), Scanlan and Skopelianos.

Round Robin play concluded on Saturday night with the Petes seeing their undefeated streak end at the hands of the West London Hawks, as they lost 3-0.

The Petes will return to league play this week with a trip to Pickering on Wednesday night and games at home on Saturday and Sunday against Pickering and Quinte West.

The Petes would like to thank this week’s sponsor of the week – Mother Daughter Gardening Services.
