PHA Members,
I hope this does not come to you by surprise, if you read the OMHA Vaccination Policy last week you would understand the process going forward. The Peterborough Hockey Association is being tasked with the verification of vaccination process to ensure all players comply by the OMHA deadline of October 31st, 2021. You must also have cleared the two-week waiting period which means all second doses of the vaccine must be taken on or before October 17th, 2021.
The proof of vaccination will only be mandated for 2009 birth years or older and all bench staff and on ice officials throughout the association.
We would like to remind everyone that this is not our policy, but one mandated to us by our governing body the OMHA passed down from Ontario Government Legislation September 1st , 2021. Vaccination verification will be done before tryouts so parents / players will have the choice of having kids vaccinated by the OMHA deadline or opting out of the season.
OMHA Policy:
The verification of vaccine is kept in confidence by the two members of the Executive and coaches will be notified if any player has not completed the form before tryouts. Players / Coaches will need to show verification of vaccinations, or agree to have it before the deadline, otherwise they are deemed non-eligible for tryouts. We are not here to pass judgement on anyone who believes or doesn't believe in the vaccination, but as an association we must meet requirements of the Ontario Gov. and OMHA Policies. Attached is the link for the verification form, which can also be found on the PHA website under the Covid-19 Tab. This will give all players, bench staff, refs, and timekeepers time to upload their verification before tryouts start.
Tryouts will commence on September 17th and all those trying out must have this form filled out by that deadline.
If you have a Medical or Religious reason for not receiving the vaccine you must have clearance from the OMHA using the following form. If you are completing this form please email the VP of Rep to inform us of the pending Accommodation. Only those granted accommodation from the OMHA will be able to be exempt from the Vaccination Policy.
