It is with a heavy
heart that I pass along this information. On June 22nd, a member of
Ajax-Pickering Minor Hockey Association died by suicide. Brian Renaud was 17.

Many youth, parents
and community members suffer in silence while dealing with mental health
challenges. Even in 2023, there remains a stigma surrounding mental health. As a
result, many pretend they’re doing well so they don’t worry others or draw
attention to themselves.
Please take a moment
to check-in with your child, show them some love/ support, and remind them that
supports are available for them when needed. This support may be from a parent, a
sibling, a coach, a friend, a teammate, a community person (eg. teacher,
therapist), or others. Even if they chose not to speak with you, encourage them
to talk to someone if they are struggling. It may save a life.
