U18 Tryouts & Releases
Hello PHA U18 Players & Parents:
Several questions & comments have come in with respect to the upcoming U18 tryouts and possible releases.
Players must first try out for U18AA. If released, they will then go to U18A tryouts. If released from U18A, players would then go to PHA House League. Residentially compliant players are not eligible to try out for Rep hockey with a different Centre until they have fulfilled their PHA tryout obligations. This is an OMHA policy and as directed by OMHA, the "Opt-Out Clause" has been removed from the previous PHA Rep Tryout Policy. Fulfilling tryouts includes but is not limited to:
- purchasing a tryout passport;
- attending all tryouts unless the player has been released;
- participating in tryouts at full effort in an attempt to make the team.
Note that any player who does not purchase a tryout passport, requests an early release, skips tryouts after buying a passport or intentionally under-performs at tryouts will be released to House League & will not be eligible for a Reverse NRP.
PHA tryout dates are coordinated with dates as directed by OMHA, and we do not have control or input on when other Centres hold their tryouts.
While PHA is appreciative of the wishes of U18 players and parents, we are obligated to follow OMHA direction.
