I am happy to announce that the PHA will be offering a U18/U21 division starting in the 2024/2025 season!
This initiative aims to retain players who often exit the sport post-U18 due to a lack of transition options into adult leagues. By embracing an 18–20-year age bracket within the U18/U21 division, we intend to bridge the existing gap to adult recreational hockey seamlessly.
Our decision is informed by extensive research and discussions with several regional associations, including Orillia, Quinte, Lasalle, Markham, and Northumberland Minor Hockey. These conversations have yielded overwhelmingly positive feedback, especially regarding player safety.
We are fortunate to have a strong group of coaches for the upcoming year, all of whom share a unified vision for the program. Their expertise and cooperation are crucial as we test this new format.
We are committed to fostering a safe and enjoyable house league environment that emphasizes sportsmanship and camaraderie. By implementing this program, we anticipate not only increasing participation rates but also enhancing the overall hockey experience for young adults in our community.
