Hello PHA Families:
I'm sure that everyone has heard about the new "No Borders Policy"
that was published by the OHF yesterday.
I want to ensure everyone that your PHA
Executive is working closely with the OMHA to determine what this will actually
look like for all of us next season. Several current PHA policies are impacted
by this change and as a result, they will be updated. This will not occur
however, until we have more information from OHF & OMHA. Our hope is to
have policies updated well before 2025-26 tryout, but this is not guaranteed at
this time.
One thing that has been made clear by OHF is that tampering and/or soliciting is strictly prohibited, and will carry very hash penalties, both personally and for the association. Tampering will be considered reaching out to players of other associations encouraging them to come to our organization. It will also include speaking directly to coaches to either ask what their plans are for next season or talking to coaches in other organizations persuading them to come to our association. Speaking directly with other families asking them to come to the PHA will also be considered tampering.
This is a very slippery slope and will be policed closely by OHF with no appeal.
If you feel that any of the conversations or questions you may ask to coaches or players that could be misconstrued and labeled under "tampering" please DO NOT ASK THEM!
If you have any questions please send them directly to me at
[email protected]. Note that PHA Executive positions are volunteer positions, and it may take some time to receive a reply. The Executive also asks you to be patient as very little information has yet to be released to us. Once we have a more clear understanding, it will be shared with the PHA membership.
