Game Results: Game vs Northumberland Nighthawks
Wednesday night the Petes played host to the Northumberland Nighthawks at the Kinsmen arena.  On this night one team would get their first victory of the season as both teams came into the game with identical records of 0-11.  The Petes arrived at the rink with a focus not seen before and were prepared to send a message to the division that they can compete with the ‘A’ division teams.

The first period started as in previous games with he Petes taking control of the game and within 19 seconds scored the opening goal of the game.  The Petes would continue to lead until the ten-minute mark when the Nighthawks took advantage of a rebound opportunity and tied up the game at 1-1.  The Petes were not deterred by this and continued to pour on the pressure and would be rewarded for their efforts and score two more goals to end the period leading 3-1.  Caeden K. scored all three goals in the period to record his first hattrick of the season.

The second period was more of the same with the Petes dominating play.  The Petes did get into a little bit of penalty issues but the Petes penalty killers were up to the task ton this night and they didn't allow any powerplay goals against. The Petes gained momentum from the penalty kills and scored another two goals in the period to extend the lead to 5-1.  Adam M. in net was called upon to make some big saves in the period to keep the Nighthawks from getting back into the game.

The third period was a defining moment for the Petes.  It was only a day before that the Petes had a 4-2 lead on the Centre hasting Grizzlies going into the third period and would end up not being able to get the victory.  However, on this night the Petes showed they had learnt from the previous night and kept the foot on the gas pedal and continued to frustrate the Nighthawks with their forechecking and puck control.   The Petes stuck to their game plan and even though the Nighthawks would score one goal in the period the Petes were able to finish strong and get their first win of the season with a score of 5-2 at the end of the third period.

Petes win! Petes win! Petes win!

It was a great night for the Petes and a well-deserved victory.  Way to go Petes!

The Petes next game is against the Ajax-Pickering Raiders on Saturday, November 26th @ 8:15 PM.

Goals: Caeden K., Will M., DJ C.
