The U12A Peterborough Petes bring home gold as champions of the 52nd Gene Harrington Shootout Classic in Buffalo, New York.
The Petes started strong and went undefeated in round-robin play. The semi-final game was tightly contested with the Petes down 1-0 until a rocket from the point found the back of the net with less than 3 minutes to play. The team was buzzing after the tying goal and buried a rebound to go up 2-1 in the final minute of the game and then added an empty-netter for a 3-1 victory. The championship game was also a nail-biter, with the Petes deadlocked in a 1-1 tie late in the 3rd period. With less than 2 minutes to play, the Petes got the championship winning goal on a net front scramble.
Each player contributed to the team's success by showing amazing compete, determination and team work throughout the weekend.
