Miskin Law Pete's Impress at Silver Stick
The Miskin Law U18 AA Pete's had another strong showing at the Pembroke Regional Silver Stick tournament over the weekend. While bowing out in the semi-finals to a top ranked Milton Jr Menace squad by an empty net score of 3-1, the boys battled through one of the toughest round robin schedules in the entire tournament.
Starting off Friday afternoon versus a tough Richmond Hill Jaguars team the boys gutted out a 1-1 tie off a late Ayden Turner, end to end goal, assisted by Blake Melnychuk in net. The schedule did not get easier as they then had a date with the Mississauga Terriers and battled to a 0-0 tie with Riley Barber picking up the shutout. The final game of the round robin had the Pete's go up against the Glancaster Bombers who were the Peterborough Tournament champions in October. The boys got some balanced scoring from Landon Jessup, Griffin Rutherford, Ayden Turner and Sawyer Shiller. Blake Melnychuk picked up the shutout.
Advancing to the semi finals saw the boys play the eventual tournament winner, the Milton Jr. Menace. The boys left it all on the ice but came up just short and lost 3-1 with an empty net goal.
While not the outcome we had hoped for there was more good news as we were recognized as the most respectful team and parent group, around the rinks, hotels, etc for the entire weekend. This was recognized with a $300 cash prize. The coaching staff could not be any more proud of the group for the entire weekend.
With the just the Oakville Winter Classic tournament left we will push harder than ever to get over the hump and secure a tournament victory. Go Pete's Go!!!
