On Tuesday
night the Sokolski Real Estate Group Peterborough U16 BB Petes travelled down
the 401 to lock horns with the Ajax-Pickering Raiders at the Don
Beers Arena. This was
the Petes second game of the season and the Petes were focused and determined
to learn from their previous game and put forth a solid 45-minute effort. On this night the Petes would have to
overcome the obstacle of being down 4 players going into the game.
Overall, the game had its a lot of highs and some lows. The game was fast paced without great back and forth action. There was a lot of scoring in the first period as both the Petes and the Raiders were able find success and score multiple times. The scoring would go back and forth until late in the first period when the Raiders took a commanding lead. The Petes though not deterred by the score kept putting the pressure on the Raiders and started to mount a comeback. The Raiders then found themselves in penalty problems and the Petes powerplay had an opportunity to get to work. On this night though the Raiders penalty killing was on point and the Petes were not able to take advantage of the many powerplay opportunities. The Petes would scores a full-strength goal in both the second and third period to make the game interesting, however with time running out were not able to fully complete the comeback. The game would end 9-5 in favour of the Ajax-Pickering Raiders. Overall, it was the Petes best performance of the season, as the team started to build some chemistry which resulted in a lot of success on the ice both defensively and offensively.
The Petes next game will be against the Quinte West Hawks at the Duncan McDonald arena on October 16th @ 3:15 PM.
