Congratulations to the 2014/15 OMHA Novice AE Champions - Peterborough Petes. Winning in 5 games against Pickering Panthers, 3-2, 8-1, and 6-2, way to go boys!

The Peterborough Petes went into Oshawa’s Hockeyfest tournament feeling confident and ready to play as a team.  They came out strong, playing with heart.  Their fore-checking and back-checking kept their opponents on their heels.   Read More

Wandering into the used hockey gear sale at my local arena with my five-year-old newbie player, I could already spot them: the Bad Hockey Parents. You know the ones. They're overly passionate, they're loud, and they're more than a tad obnoxious.

When a cartoon character gets bonked on the head, stars appear and float in a silly circle. It may be funny to see in a cartoon, but it's not so funny when it happens for real. Seeing stars, feeling goofy or dazed for a little while, or being knocked out after getting hit in the head are all symptoms of a type of brain injury called a concussion. Hockey is actually a very safe sport at the youth level when compared against other youth sports. That’s not to say hockey is without risk, but by comparison to many youth activities, hockey has no more injuries than other sports, and in many cases may have fewer.  Read More
