Weekend of 3s
This past weekend the Novice AA Under Armour Petes hit the road, and played at home for games 2 & 3 of their regular season. It was both a tough and triumphant weekend for these young players, with 3 goals in each game.

February 8 the team travelled to Whitby. The first period was back and forth with strong play at both ends of the ice, however neither team could find the back of the net. That didn’t last long though. Less than a minute into the second Vincent took the puck and buried it, unassisted. Buchner followed this goal up 5 minutes later, assisted by Fox and Bishop. In the third, another goal was added by Kekki, assisted by Buchner and Gillespie. Xuereb was set for the shutout, however Whitby was able to sneak one through with under 3 minutes left in the game. Only one Pete made an appearance in the penalty box this game; Bishop was called for tripping. Reid and Anderson were healthy scratches.

February 9, the team was at home facing off against Belleville. This game proved much tougher than the day before. The team had to contend with a hot goaltender and some quick whistles by the refs. Scoring was opened up in the first by Peterborough; Casselman found the back of the net, with support from Buchner and Vincent. Peterborough followed this up with another goal in the second by Fox, assisted by Buchner and Werry. Belleville countered to cut the lead to one. In the third Peterborough attempted to increase their lead, with a goal by Simpson, from Fox and Werry, but again Belleville fought back. With less than a minute left in the game, and Belleville down by one, they got a break away. Davies stood tall though and made an incredible save to steal the game for the Petes. Two Petes visited the penalty box this game – Reil and Gillespie, both for body contact. Again, Reid and Anderson were healthy scratches.

With 3 goals each game, and 3 penalties taken, this was a weekend of 3s.

The Petes hope to continue their success when they travel to Kingston on Sunday.
