Trent Lakes Minor Peewee AA Petes Take 7 of 8 Points
The Trent Lakes Plumbing Minor Peewee AA Petes have been on a roll and took 7 of a possible 8 points in the past week. Last Saturday the team faced off at home vs. Kingston in a rematch of a very feisty battle a few weeks ago. The Petes came out with lots of energy and took a quick lead on goals from Braedan Saxby and Travis Heffernan. But the teamwork and determination did not stop there, Jack Gauvreau stepped up scoring a hattrick and putting the team well ahead.

Kingston fought back and made up with a couple power play goals, making it 5-4. But two quick goals by Blake Moncrief sealed the game and secured two points for the Petes. Assists went to Katie Belk, Tristain Boucher, Kaleb Jamieson, Aedan Temple and Jack Davies. Nathan Sorichetti picked up the win in goal with a strong effort in a 7-5 finish.

Sunday The Trent Lakes Petes travelled for their first meeting of the season in Pickering. Pickering was a hot team sitting near the top of the Lakeshore standings. Once again the Petes picked right back up where they left off the night before with their speed and hard work. The team was lead by Gauvreau who netted two more quick goals. Jamieson also capitalized on a power play, as did Jack Burns with a huge shot from the point. Pickering was able to get two goals back but the Petes were able hold them off and get their second win in as many nights. Burns, Moncrief, Jamieson and Gauvreau all tallied assists and Antonio Bianco stood tall for the win in net.

Yesterday Pickering was back in Peterborough for a rematch for what was two crucial points in the battle in the standings. Davies opened the scoring on a great rush and shot after being sprung up the ice by Ben Gusso. Pickering was able to tie it on a scramble in front of the net just as the second period was coming to an end. The Petes were able to regain the lead early in the third as Temple found the back of the net on a feed from Davies. However the pressure kept coming and late in the third Pickering was able to score the equalizer and the game ended in a 2-2 tie. Bianco was great in goal again and gave the Petes a chance as the pressure mounted the final minutes.

The Petes then travelled down the 401 for a meeting with Belleville, the first of three games with them over the next two weeks. The game started out a bit slow, but then the kids found their legs and second gear. Temple opened the scoring late in the first on a great passing play from Braeden Couture and Caiden Rogers. This sparked the Petes who continued to roll with goals from Davies, Couture, Rogers and Moncrief. Assists going to Couture with two, Heffernan, Rogers, Belk, Gauvreau and Temple. Sorichetti played great for the shutout with a 5-0 win.

This capped seven out of eight point in the 8 days and keeps the team near the top and in the chase for leaders of the Lakeshore league. Great work by all the players. The team will now be one of five PHA teams Heading to Detroit this week to represent Peterborough and Canada at the Nations Cup. Keep on rolling Petes and Sweet Carolina…….
