The Kawartha Metals Minor Bantam Roster Select Petes travelled south of the border to play in the 43rd Annual Gene Harrington Invitational Hockey Tournament in Niagara Falls New York Dec 5-7. In the first two round robin games the Petes beat Thornhill Rebels 8-4 and Lorne Park Ojibway 7-2. The Petes now advanced to the quarter finals having to face a very tough Port Credit team and after 2 periods would find themselves trailing 2-1 but in the third period they worked their way back to tie it and then would score the winner at approx. the 2:00 minute mark and hold on to a 3-2 win. In the semi finals the Kawatha Metals Petes would face a strong Vaughan Rangers team only to play a solid defensive game and shut them out 2-0. In the finals we would face the home team Buffalo Shamrocks who were ranked #1 in the tournament and was also undefeated. Buffalo would score first to take a 1-0 lead only to see the Petes tie it shortly after. It would all come down to a 12:00 minute 3rd period to decide the final. It was Peterborough who would score around the 9:00 minute mark to take the lead and from there on played a solid defensive game to hold off a couple late attacks by the Shamrocks. The final buzzer would sound and the Kawartha Metal Petes would remain undefeated on the season now at 8-0 to claim top honors and bring home the big Trophy.

Congratulations to all the boys for a solid Tournament from goaltending to defense to offense out scoring their opponents 22-9 over the 5 games.
