Silver medallists were the 1 Eighty Hunter Novice AA's in their own tourney this past weekend !
An amazing first weekend of hockey for this group losing twice to the tourney champs the Burlington Eagles...The kids lost there opener with 2 late 3rd period goals 3-1 to Burlington but bounced back to shutout St Catherines 4-0 and then knocked off Halton Hills 3-1 to gain the second see and a bye into the semis....in that match the Petes dominated and for not a goal with 10 seconds left would have secured their second shutout of the weekend. Final score of the semi was Ptbo 2 Northumberland 1. Off to the finals vs Burlington and what a game...The kids were unreal outshooting their opponents 8-2 in the first carrying the play heavily, but found themselves down 1-0. the second was back and forth as Burlington's netminder continue to shine...a late goal with 1:16 left in the period stung but the boys still felt confident...in the third the Petes threw all they could at the Eagles but couldn't find the net...another late tally with a couple min to go sealed the win for Burlington...who went 5-0 and were well deserved Champions...A great effort and result for these kids . Next week the season opens at home vs Belleville then off to Quinte West Sunday for the first road match of the season.
