This
afternoon the Petes played against their hometown rivals, the Peterborough ‘A’
team. The Petes were looking to improve upon their previous result of 11-3 versus
the ‘A’ team. However, it was going to
be an uphill battle as the Petes were short two players to injury, one player
to sickness, and two other players to suspensions. It was going to need to be a heroic effort by
the remaining Petes players if they were going to get the victory.
The start
of the game was positive for the Petes as they were able to play some great
defense and only allow a couple of goals by the ‘A’ team by the end of the
first period. The ‘A’ team would lead
2-0 at the end of the first period.
The second period
the Petes continued to defend well, however some defensive miscues contributed
to three more goals being scored by the ‘A’ team. The score at the end of the second period was
5-0 for the ‘A’ team.
The third
period was dominated by the ‘A’ team as they were able to keep the Petes in
their defensive zone for extended periods of time. The ‘A’ team was relentless and continued to
increase their lead. The ‘A’ team would
be rewarded with 7 goals in the period for their effort. The final score of the game was 12-0 in
favour of the ‘A’ team.
The biggest
highlight of the day for the Petes was their goalie Adam M. who once again was
called upon to stop 80 shots in the game. Over his past two outings he has faced
over 160 shots. Way to go Adam!
The Petes
next game is against Whitby Wildcats (Blue) on Wednesday, December 14th @ 8:15
PM at the Kinsmen.
