Minor Atom AE Petes opened the playoffs with a 6-0 win over Oshawa on Saturday
(January 28) at the Peterborough Memorial Centre and followed it up with a convincing
11-3 win in Oshawa on Monday night (January 30).
Saturday’s game saw a slow start for the Petes, until Tristan Lehmann finally broke through with an early second period goal. Lehmann scored again on his next shift of the game and from there the Petes put things out of reach on goals by Tobey Skopelianos, Griffith Coupland, Caeden Kent and Sawyer Spencley. Assists during the game went to Spencley (2), Coupland and Kent and Brody Bolton earned the shutout.

The Petes knew that Monday night’s game would be a pivotal game as a win would give them a commanding lead in the series and they came out looking like they were ready to play, with Archer Stalteri scoring less than a minute into the game. The Petes opened up a 4-0 lead by the first intermission on goals from Coupland, Olivia Mercer and Lehmann.
The second and third period were a continuation of the Petes strong play, with Coupland notching two more goals to complete his hat trick, Lehmann and Stalteri both adding their second goals of the night and the scoring being rounded out by goals from Skopelianos, Kent and Cole Scanlan. Assists on the night went to Riley Hagerman (2), Lehmann (2), Skopelianos (2), Spencley, Kent and Coupland.

The Petes will host Oshawa for game 3 on Thursday night (February 2) at the Kinsmen at 7:00pm.
