Service Master Restore Minor Peewee AE Petes Post Big Win to Even Playoff Series
After falling 2-1 in the playoff opener against the Quinte West Hawks, the Service Master Restore Minor Peewee AE Petes crammed in some extra practice time, made some lineup adjustments and then hit the road for game two on Sunday afternoon in the historic Frankford-McMullen Arena. With game time temperatures approaching -20, the Petes fans surrounded the playing surface, enduring frigid temperatures, to provide much appreciated support to their team.

The game appeared as though it might be headed in the same direction as the series opener, as the Hawks scored early in the first and then weathered a constant barrage of pressure from the Petes. The Hawks would hold onto the lead until late in the second period when Matthew Sokolski would spark some life into the Petes by scoring his second goal of the series and evening up the game score.

The similarities to the opening game of the series would end in the third period, as the Petes were finally able to solve the strong Quinte goaltending and ring off 5 goals in the period. Strong goaltending from Nathan Crossley, with some timely saves helped the Petes earn the 6-1 victory and evened up the opening round playoff series at 2 points each.

Third period goals came from Sam Dickey (2), Andrew Wasson, Josh Watson and Sawyer Spencley.  Spencley added 3 assists to round out a four point night and was named the Petes hardest working player. Other assists came from Ben Herder, Joe Donoghue, Riley Hagerman, James Chandra and Jordan Garfat.

The Petes will return home on Saturday afternoon (Jan 26) for game three of the series – 3:30 @ the Kinsmen.

The Petes would like to thank St. Louis Bar and Grill for their support of our team this season, including playing host to many important coach’s meetings.
