Game Results: Game vs Whitby Wildcats
Last night the Peterborough Mr. Sub U15 AE Petes played their final game of the regular season versus the Whitby Wildcats at the the Kinsmen Civic Centre.  Most recently the Wildcats had been able to string together a couple successful games, they tied Belleville, and in there last outing beat Oshawa.  Therefore, the Petes knew they were competing against a very confident Wildcats team and would need to bring their best effort to the ice.

The first period started was a great period for the Petes.  The Petes imposed their gameplan on the Wildcats and as a result had lots of offensive zone time.  The Petes would get multiple great scoring chances but were unable to beat the Wildcats netminder.  After successfully killing a penalty of their own the Petes would get a powerplay with six minutes left in the period.  The Petes powerplay would not be denied on their first and only attempt in this game as battled hard and put the puck in the net.  The Petes continued to dominate play and end the period leading 1-0.

The second period was a different story.  The Wildcats inspired to get a goal started to match the Petes speed of play and generate some quality scoring chances of their own.  The Wildcats would get rewarded on a quick spin around shot and score to tie up the game 1-1.  The Petes though would respond quickly and less than a minute later scored regain the lead 2-1.  The game would continue with playoff intensity as both teams had quality scoring chances, but the goalies were up to the task.  Until with under six minutes remaining when the Wildcats took advantage of a defensive breakdown by the Petes and tie the game at 2-2.  Then with less than ten seconds in the period the Wildcats would score again to take a 3-2 lead into the third period.

The Petes after intermission knew what needed to be done to get back control of the game.  The Petes took to the ice with a high level of focus and energy and regained control of the play.  The Petes were rewarded for this effort and scored a beautiful passing play goal to tie the game 3-3.  The Petes continued to dominate play and overwhelm the Wildcats in their offensive zone getting more and more scoring chances.  However, the Wildcats took advantage of one of their only scoring chances in the period and scored to take the lead once again.  With time running out in the game the Petes pulled their goalie in favour of the extra attacker.  The Petes had some chances to score but the Widcats goalie was able to shut the door to secure the win.  The final score of the game would be a 4-3 in favour of the Whitby Wildcats.

Goals scored by: Matthew S., Chase C.

Assists by: Hayven W., Mason N., Hayden M., Edward S.

The Petes finished the season in second place and will now move onto playing in the LakeShore League Playoffs that begin after March 2nd.  The playoffs will consist of a six-game round robin versus Oshawa, Whitby, and Belleville with the top seed representing the Lakeshore League in the OMHA Championships.
