Game Results: Playoff Game @ Belleville Jr. Bulls
Last night the Peterborough Mr. Sub U15 AE Petes played their fifth scheduled playoff game.  The Petes were pumped up to play against the Belleville Jr. Bulls in their second meeting during the playoffs.  The Petes dominated game one vs the Bulls but a couple of breakdowns late in the third period gave the Bulls the opportunity they needed to steal the win away from the Petes.  The Petes were determined this game to put in a 45-minute effort and give the Bulls all they could handle.  With a short roster the Petes were ready to play early and got on the ice before the Bulls for what turned out to be an extended warmup.

The Petes took control of the game from the drop of the puck.  It was evident that the experience gained from playing in the St Catharines tournament provided the Petes the confidence needed to play at a greater pace then the Bulls.  The Petes continued to overwhelm the Bulls and with six minutes remaining in the first period opened the scoring on an unassisted goal.  The Bulls though as in previous games would weather the storm in the first period and take advantage of a Petes mistake and score a late short-handed goal to tie the game.  The score at the end of the first period was 1-1

In the second period the Bulls stepped up their game and both teams generated excellent scoring chances.  The Bulls would strike first in the period to make the score 2-1 after converting a hail Mary pass and getting a breakaway goal.  The Petes would then get assessed a penalty and the Petes penalty killers would be called upon to kill off the Bulls powerplay.  The Petes penalty killers were once again outstanding and pressured the Bulls into making a mistake and the Petes jumped on it and scored a short-handed goal of their own tying the score at 2-2.  The game continued to be tied as both goalies were called upon to make big saves.  However, with under two minutes in the period the Bulls would take advantage of a turned over puck in the neutral zone and score on an odd man rush.  The score at the end of the second period was 3-2 in favour of the Bulls.

After the intermission the Petes were ready to leave it all on the ice and they gave everything they had.  They emptied the tank.  The third period was a great period filled with end to action, clean and physical play, and huge saves by both team goalies.  And with under two minutes remaining the Petes would get the opportunity they were looking for.  The Bulls would be assessed a 2-minute slashing penalty and the Petes powerplay would get a chance to tie up the game.  With 1:30 left in the period the Petes managed to get a offensive zone faceoff in the Bulls end and the Petes bench called a timeout to rest and talk to the powerplay players.  During the timeout the Petes also decided to pull their goalie to make it a two-man advantage, 6 on 4.  The Petes generated multiple chances to score but would end up running out of time to tie up the game.  The final score of the game was 3-2 in favour of the Belleville Jr. Bulls.

Overall, it was a great game by the entire team.  Well done Petes!
