Game Results: Playoff Game vs Belleville Jr. Bulls
Last night the Peterborough Mr. Sub U15 AE Petes hosted the Belleville Jr. Bulls for game #2 in the playoffs.  Both the Petes and the Bulls had just come off convincing victories.  The Bulls win versus the Oshawa Generals and the Petes win versus the Whitby Wildcats.  The stage was set for a battle of the two best teams in the regular season, 1st place versus 2nd place.

The game started with the Petes taking control of the game off the opening faceoff and getting the Bulls on their heels.  The Pete pressure was too much for the Bulls to handle and it wasn’t long before the Bulls would run into penalty problems.  The bulls managed to kill of their first penalty of the period but was not able to kill off their second as the Petes opened the scoring with a powerplay goal to take a 1-0 lead in the game. The Petes continued to dominate the period and would maintain their lead going into the second period.

In the second period the Bulls stepped up their game to another level and put the pressure back on the Petes.  The Petes found themselves hemmed into their own end of the rink for long durations of time with the Bulls taking shot after shot on Adam M. who was in net for the Petes on this evening.  The Petes goalie played outstanding in the period and made highlight reel saves to shutdown the Bulls and keep them off the score board.  The Petes maintained their 1-0 lead going into the third period.

After the intermission the Bulls were noticeably becoming frustrated and were desperate to score.  Going so far as to get two cross checking penalties on one play, one targeted the Petes netminder and the other targeted a Petes defenseman.  The Petes with a great opportunity to extend the lead went to work on the 5 on 3 powerplay.  This would turn out to be the TSN turning point in the game as the Bulls were able to kill of the two-man advantage and use that momentum to score a goal of their own following the successful penalty kill to knot up the game at 1-1.  With momentum now on the Bulls side they continued to push for the winning goal and less than a minute later scored their second goal to take a 2-1 lead over the Petes.  The Petes were now rattled, and the Bulls took full advantage and scored again less than a minute later to extend their lead to 3-1.  Immediately after the Bulls third goal the Petes bench called a timeout to try to settle down the troops and get their focus back.  This was somewhat successful as the Petes started to regain control of the game, but time was not on their side.  The Petes did manage to create a few scoring chances but were unable to get the puck into the Bulls net.  The final score of the game would end up being 3-1 in favour of the Belleville Jr. Bulls.

We’ll get them next time Petes!
