Service Master Restore Atom AE Petes Have Mixed Results over the Weekend
The Service Master Restore Atom AE Petes began their weekend with a Saturday afternoon (Sept. 23) tilt against the Belleville Bulls at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.

The Petes opened the scoring early on a goal by Tobey Skopelianos and never looked back as they filled the net often for a 14-3 win.

Other goal scorers included Cole Scanlan (4), Sam Dickey (4), Caeden Kent (2), Archer Stalteri, Josh Watson and Skoplianos added a second.  Assists went to James Chandra (3), Stalteri (2), Riley Hagerman, Jayden Howson, Jordan Garfat, Dickey, Watson, and Kent. The Petes hardest working player was Cole Scanlan.

Sunday afternoon (Sept. 24)saw the Oshawa Generals come to town for a matinee match at the Evinrude Centre.  The Petes looked like they had a bit of a hangover from the lopsided Saturday win and the Generals took advantage with an early first period goal.

Trailing 1-0, the Petes came on strong and controlled play as they looked for the equalizer. It looked as though the constant pressure had paid off  early in the second when Sam Dickey fired a backhander bar down, and everyone in the arena celebrated the goal with the exception of the referee who waived it off and allowed the play to continue in what would turn out to be a pivotal play in the game. As the Petes prematurely celebrated the goal, the Gens cleared the zone and went down ice to score a goal and go up 2-0.

The Petes quickly regrouped and less than 2 minutes later were within one when Caeden Kent found the back of the net.  Sam Dickey managed to tie the game up when he buried a cross crease pass from Skopelianos a minute later and then Kent put the Petes up 3-2 when he fired home a power play marker – all three goals coming over a 3 minute stretch.

The third period saw the Petes continually test the Gens goalie, with no luck finding the back of the net, and with 6 minutes left in the game, the Generals managed to break out of their zone and bury what would end up being the final goal in a 3-3 tie.

Other assists during the game went to Stalteri, Chandra and Scanlan.  The Petes hardest working player was Riley Hagerman, who was relentless on the forecheck throughout the game.

Next up for the Petes is a road game in Clarington on October 1st.

The Petes would like to thank this week’s sponsor of the week - Ricart Promotion and Recognition  – who just celebrated their first anniversary in their beautiful new building.
